    Hi KC,

Thanks for your reply. it make sense that the blue one is no.40072. It fits nice in the run of the cars with the side indicators for the US, which were produces just for the publushing of the article in Sport Auto. Regarding the Auto Zeitung article in is possible that it is 77/01 instead of 77/03. Is that chassis delivered with or without the sun visors and the clear front window?

A very powerful Silhouette... which one is this? 40042? 40102? And where has the photo been taken?
Maybe 40102 at Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) 1979?

Lol, I thought about making a post of this German Trump card/quartett spiel some days ago!

The infamous Lamborghini Turbo, I remember I did write a letter to one of the Swedish car magazines back in the early 80th to ask some information about this car, i never received a reply from them............

I never saw more than two Silhouettes together. May be for that reason, we as owners and fans can give it a try to bring more than two cars together? Somewhere in the Luxembourg, Eifel, Northern France area? I think that will be a driveable distance for the most owners to reach for Europe. Don't hesitate to reply and let's find out if there is some enthausiasm for a meeting like this?

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for sharing these photos. I don't expect you will come over to Europe for such a meeting with 40102? Is the car in running condition?

Martin, Sorry to say, it is not my car. The legal owner is Matt. His partner sold his car to someone without the legal title about three years ago. He is trying to find it ever since but no luck so far. Tom

The car in the pictures is #40076.

Went to Chinetti (the Ferrari distributor) when new. He kept the car until at least the late '80
In the nineties it was in the Ron Miller collection.
Later owned by a member of this thread.
I believe it's still in US with 4th owner now.

I did never hear about a link between Frank Sinatra and Silhouette #40076 before.

i met with chinetti a couple of weeks ago. a charming man he is. i wish we had more time so can ask about a 100 questions about efforts to federalize this one and only P118 from the factory.

Thanks Jonathan, the plan was for this feature to be a face-to-face with a carburettor Ferrari 308GTS to determine which was ‘best’. DK Engineering leant us a 308 and it was going well until the 308 broke down mid morning. As there weren’t enough photos in the bag for the back to back feature they had to default to another Silhouette profile story. Pity really, but the Silhouette-308 comparison is still to be written...

Interesting. The October 1978 issue of 'Car' magazine included a group test of the 308GTB, Urraco P300 and Merak SS. They liked all of them for different reasons, but Mel Nichols thought the 308 was a bit too competent and so the 'winner' was Urraco, despite its many flaws and partly because it made the nicest (loudest) nice. So maybe the Silhouette would have emerged victorious! It's fair to say that Mel still likes it...

    Jonathan

PS It's a rare occasion when a Lamborghini is the most reliable car in a group test!
