The timing is intriguing to say the least! No doubt much of the same info and images will be in the Kidston books.

    I'm confused by all this.

The public welcomes any and all books on this iconic car, in fact we don't have enough publications in this dying medium and the more Miura books we have, the more the public's imagination is stoked and the more the cars can be appreciated & cherished for posterity.

All this smoke & mirrors stuff is not helpful, let's have an online link, full disclosure with a nice review of what it is and how to get it, in other words, a little transparency please, 'baluba', thank you.

Am I out of line to ask if this is a knockoff of Kidston’s new book or perhaps a pre-issue review version??

I am Steve Wakefield, based in London (and Geneva when I can travel), part of the team that has produced the Kidston SA Miura book and you can contact me via the book website or at kidston.com. This has nothing to do with our book, a pre-production copy of which is sitting next to me right now, the one that was used for the advanced reviews in Classic & Sports Car and Octane. These books have been printed and are now in the process of final binding, putting into slipcases and then being prepared for despatch over the next couple of weeks.

The second book is the Register - planned release November this year - which is being worked on as I write. This will not simply be a list of chassis numbers, dates and specs, it will have extensive information on the history of the cars, famous owners, show cars, dealers, trim and much more with only period photos. It is a companion to the sold-out main book. Both are English language.

We obviously wish the publishers of this other volume on the Miura well in their endeavours, and assume that the timing is a just a coincidence.

May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped and inspired us with ours (many on this forum), all of whom have exhibited remarkable patience over the 20 or so years(!) it's taken to finally publish the books. We are confident it will be worth the wait!

Joe, I don't think there is confusion to understand why releasing it right now... it is taking advantage of the promotion around the Miura book released by fellow Simon Kidtson.

As you wrote and I agree too, book is a dying medium... so if you are an independent publisher with same topic, you catch the train as we said in French...

    Steve:

Thank you for the clarification. Good to know that there is nothing untoward going on with this other somewhat mysterious book. The more (correct) information that is available publicly, the better it is for the cars and for those of us that have an interest in documenting them. I for one would like to find out more about this other book and would likely purchase it, even if I am also (impatiently) waiting to receive the books you have been working on.

Interested in sharing, given that there is no information forthcoming?

I am a bit of a loss as to why someone would clearly spend so much time and effort on such an interesting book and not provide more details about how it can be purchased or provide more information to make a decision as to whether they want to purchase it.

Well, if they wish to sell the book, they'll have to provide information.
