The Lamborghini LM002 is an oddity in the automotive world. The result of a failed military automotive program, the LM002 was powered by Lamborghini's 5.2L V12 engine, the same engine featured in the late production Countach. Nicknamed the Rambo-Lambo, the LM002 married off road capabilities, luxury appointments, as well as high end performance and refinement. This combination is commonly seen these days, but it was unheard of in 1986. The LM002 sold in low numbers, with only 328 having been built. Of these, only 48 were built as LM/American, or LM002-A, a small series of the performance SUV designated especially for the US market.

Before we proceed, let us prove our point with some stupefying statistics. If, later, we lapse into hyperbole, consider it intentional. This machine weighs 6780 pounds. That is 2472 pounds heavier than the Range Rover, which many describe as the ultimate in this genre. The Lambo carries a 5.2-liter V-12 that produces 444 horsepower, giving it almost 300 hp more than the 3.5-liter V-8 Range Rover. The LM002 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds, almost twice as quick as the Range Rover. Its top speed is 118 mph, or 23 mph faster than the best from Solihull. And, oh yes, the Lamborghini costs about $120,000, which is $90,000 more than the cuddly little Englishman. But as Napoleon Bonaparte observed outside the gates of Moscow, domination and intimidation never come cheap.

  11. Roy the owner of Cats Exotics secured my LM002 VIN #30 for me.
The Lamborghini Registry helped determine that mine is one of one in the color Verde Imb601 from the factory. There are 2 in the color Verde Imb602 and 1 also in Verde Imb600.
VIN #30 was originally delivered to Abe Shokai in Tokyo, Japan. One of my favourite things about my LM other than the color is I have the very rare sliding rear window!

  17. Hi guys, I have been curious for a while, what are the driving and ownership experiences life of a carbureted LM vs. a fuel injected one.
My goal is to get one at some point and I have been leaning towards a fuel injected one. But maybe I have no basis for this. I just don't know what I don't know.
  18. At this point I would just pick the best one you could find.
