2022 is V12 appreciation year, after almost 60 years of powering some of the most iconic vehicles of all time, Lamborghini is utilizing the legendary engine one last time in Aventador Ultimae before we pass on to complete hybridization in 2023.
With a little amarcord, we remember the first model that truly encapsulated the V12 spirit, coupled with a flawless design that cemented its legacy as one of the greatest supercars ever, the car for which the term was invented: Lamborghini P400 Miura.
We also remember the engineers behind the V12, Paolo Stanzani and Giampaolo Dallara. Their engine design made the Miura the fastest production road car at the time. Founder Ferruccio Lamborghini knew that the model’s success was inevitable. From the expected quota of 50, 763 units were sold in total. The Miura went on to become one of the most recognizable and admired vehicles of all time. And we give thanks to the engine that made it possible, the V12.
