You guys honestly think black is a good Countach color? Imo, it makes the car appear a lot smaller. And looses some of its wide bad ass apperance. Poss back in the 80 black did ok. But in todays world with all other cars beeing much bigger, Imo the Countach displayes its badassness better in a Color or white

I think black is an amazing color for a Countach.

Thanks for this, look forward to your pics when you have time to scan them.

Yes, Nero Tenebre (Black) PPG 2.461.025 is a stunning color for any Countach, this from the owner of a Bordeaux Speciale Countach.

Black is appropriately sinister, the color is often specifically requested by buyers looking for a car, and owners of black Countachs like them so much they seem to come up with nicknames for them which you might have seen already posted here, Darth Vader, Black Bull, Black Jack, Black Beauty et al.

In the production period Nuova Automobili Lamborghini SpA made more cars in Rosso Siviglia, Nero Tenebre and Bianco Polo Park than any other color, underscoring that many people thought black was a great color for a Countach, and still do.

Mine doesn't either and I can't recall any Downdrafts I've seen with sun visors, see GLA12942 with it's special interior below, meanwhile I've never found lack of sun visors an issue in driving any variant of Countach from LP400 onwards.

I haven't checked this for fact but I believe sun visors were standard for the USA Fuelies and the all 25ths both Fuelie & Carburatori.

This from the owner of a Rosso Siviglia Countach - agreed.

I have a solution for the color debate:

The absolute best color for a Countach is undoubtedly the color/s you own, that's official ;)

Perhaps a color that shows off the lines of the Countach well is Argento, as shown off here on GLA12005, one would think that many would have specced it but it is in fact very rare for a Downdraft

As for colors - there is certainly no wrong answer. To me, certainly there are some atrocious colors, but who am I to say what’s beautiful to another man?

I always wanted a Rosso Siviglia over Champagne QV, and there was nothing that was going to sway me. Having said that, If I could own multiple cars, my next two would defiantly be Blu Acapulco over Panna (and not just because of recent events. I always loved that combo) and Nero over Nero.

Your Red on champagne is an awesome combo. Mine is Red on white, also awesome, At the end of the day, there really is no bad color on a Countach. If having a choice between the factory colors, mine would be Tahiti blue ,with white int.

    Well stated.

The Kenwood manuals are not correct either.

It's from an earlier era in the 1970s, one of my totally original Countach LP400 Periscopas supplied with all-original ancilaries came with this exact same pouch

For the record, the pouch that is correct for Rossocorsa1's car would be like this one below.

This is the leather pouch supplied by Nuova Automobili Lamborghini SpA throughout Downdraft production from 1985 to 1988.

It may come in a variety of colors and leather textures / patterns, but it will always have a shield sewn on to the bottom right-hand side of the cover with the bull and the words "NUOVA LAMBORGHINI" embossed upon it

    Indeed.

BTW since you purchased your Downdraft from the first owner who lived in Italy all his life, Italian Racing Red is appropriate for heritage reasons, meanwhile note that both Bertone SpA and Tonino Lamborghini chose red cars.

Looking at my archives again, red was clearly the most popular color

Just one well-known image from 1986, it's not conclusive but it gives you a general idea of the color distribution, most of the cars were indeed red

The 80’s was certainly the predominant age of influence for me. I was obsessed with Ferrari and Lamborghini (very specifically the Countach) and my main frame of reference for these cars was red. Certainly, a magazine article or the Robb Report would occasionally feature different colors, but the vast majority were red, and that made an imprint on me.
