Still speaking of Countach QV, still in France, but now about JLA12307 :

I've made a trip in it last month, odometer was already reading 194.000+ km.
And be sure, the 200.000 km level will be reached soon end of this summer, after the French-Club tour in Italy !...

And for the ones able to read french language, this great Countach is also featured this summer in the july-august issue of the French magazine Auto-Retro, N°443/2019.

Yes, that is the motion that broke my passenger side door handle bracket--pulling slightly sideways instead of straight down.

I have seen damage done to the doors themselves by the uninitiated closing them down hard in less than the vertical plane and causing damage to the door jambs and even tweaking the hinges.

So much goodness in this one shot of HLA12147, the angle of the image, the wheel camber, the Pirelli Cinturato P7s, and the car in the background

Joe - I use C9 in my Ferrari’s. What is the advantage of C12, if you know?

Other than gas quality, I'm not sure, that's John P's car, perhaps he will elaborate.

I also see that C12 is leaded and C9 is unleaded.

For that reason I handle the opening and closing of the door for my passengers, they seem to like that service!

    Joe,

I noticed the picture of the fuel tank at the bottom. Fuel leaks were a significant issue when FLA12824 was sorted mechanically.

Both original fuel tanks were weeping from multiple areas through the aluminum! Came close to having new fuel tanks fabricated, but ended up doing quite a bit of spot welding on both tanks, after which they were pressure tested for one week. Luckily these repairs were successful, and I retained both original fuel tanks in the car.

Unsuprisingly, there are very few OEM Downdraft fuel tanks floating around out there (Competizione was able to snag one from Italy, in case the repairs don't hold).

Wondering if you (or anyone else on this thread) has encountered similar problems, and if so, what was done about it?

    Best,
    Jude

Worth coating the inside of the tanks with an epoxy based sealant to protect from leaks and ethanol, seems quite common for tanks to spring pinhole leaks.

Very very nice workmanship! It will be like stepping back to 1985 once it’s completed! I find great joy in bring cars back to their former glory. Certainly there will be small “tricks” that will better the car, such as reinforcements underneath the corners of the vent openings, the tach and speedo needles, the side mirror aluminum supports, the LED lighting behind the instrument cluster, the gear shift knob which comes loose after being tightened, and a few other betterments which the factory never addressed during the 16 year production run.

My car was fully-restored and it got the sealant to the innards to protect against pinhole leaks, the entire fuel system (as with everything else) was gone through, as it sits in my garage there is no gas smell at all.

    Exactly.

So true on all, it really is one my life's joys to see these cars and the work of the original artisans being respected and appreciated.
