I always thought the wiper was so amazing and a thing of beauty. Still, I always wondered how effective it is. Regardless, mine will likely never be used but it is damn cool.

I know it is not, however it looks like a die cast model.

  3. I recenlty drove about two hours in heavy rain and it worked really well. At the beginning I was sceptical too but it turned out to be efficient and reliable.

    Nicely.

When we restored the car we changed the blades so it works like a squeegee, it was only a brief shower but I needed to use them, I was more concerned about driving at night.

I have often heard this theory but it hasn't worked for me.

The Pantograph wiper (illustration below) is a very effective application and it clears a big expanse of windscreen efficiently, that's why its employed on everything from period race cars to planes, trains & boats.

I'm sure I did a piece on it in the general Countach thread several years ago.

Yes agreed, and the background looks like a painting, I think the photograher tuned the image to look like that.

In 2007 I drove a Downdraft from Zurich to St Moritz in absolutely pouring rain, I've posted images earlier in this thread, the wiper worked fine.

Yes I think you can get scans of these without the Eurospares watermark but these are excellent as a reference

Looks fabulous, get those new Pirelli Cinturato P7s on there ASAP, they'll change the driving experience for the better.

You have to put Rain-X onto the windscreen... even from Zürich to St.Moritz I hardly had to use the wiper.

I can confirm that it is very effective, the factory must have been satisfied with the Pantograph unit as they retained it throughout Countach production from LP400 to 25th.

Also I agree that it is a cool piece of engineering, not only that, it is an aesthetically striking component befitting a Supercar.

Sadly, I am going to miss that as I will be beating my way back from this year's 356 international in Switzerland in a '56 Coupe. But if you are around on the 5th or 6th of June, the Blu Acapulco will be at the London Concours in the Icons category. Let me know if you want a ticket, Rob. Best, JB
